An embodied, relational framework for human development

DEVELOPMENTAL ARCHITECTURE
A 24-Week Developmental Curriculum

Developmental Architecture moves through the body and chakra system in a developmental sequence— supporting each layer of human capacity to be accessed, integrated, and to mature within relationship.

Orientation for the work:

Core principle: This work is about reintroducing the nervous system to the conditions under which development was originally designed to occur.

On chakras: Chakras are locational centers of organization, and they are also whole-body developmental fields. When a chakra is developmentally active, it does not merely show up in one place in the body — it organizes perception, relationship, pacing, and meaning across the whole organism.

Each chakra (after Week 1) is explored over three weeks, following the same developmental arc:

  1. Contact — sensing the capacity directly

  2. Imprint — understanding how it was shaped early

  3. Reorientation — orienting toward how it is meant to function when development is supported

WEEK 1

Arrive Together

No chakra-specific inquiry yet — this week is about the group forming and everyone being met before the developmental work begins.

Triad 1 — Inquiry: What is your motivation for being here?

Triad 2 — Inquiry: What strengths and challenges do you bring to this group and to this work?

Root Chakra

Safety · Arrival · Incarnation

Core developmental question: Is it safe for me to be here — in a body, in time, in the world?

Dominant quality: Safety without effort; support without earning

Location: Base of the body (root, legs, pelvis)

Root-dominant consciousness may be felt throughout the whole body

WEEK 2 — CONTACTING SAFETY

Phase: Contact

Developmental task: Establish contact with safety as a present-moment bodily experience

Theme: Slowing down, sinking into being in the base

Inquiry:What does safety feel like in my body right now, as I am here?

Facilitator notes:

  • Emphasize pace, presence, and relational consistency

  • Avoid story or interpretation

  • Normalize "not feeling safe" as valid contact

WEEK 3 — HOW SAFETY WAS SHAPED

Phase: Imprint

Developmental task: Notice how early conditions organized the nervous system around safety and support

Theme: Early learning; what was stored; adaptive organization

Inquiry:What did my body learn early about safety and support?

WEEK 4 — REORIENTING TOWARD SAFETY

Phase: Reorientation

Developmental task: Introduce the nervous system to safety, and let the root speak what it needs

Theme: Dependence, abundance, being held. Moving towards expression of needs, attuned relating

Inquiry:What do I need to feel safe and stay in my base?

Sacral Chakra

Needs · Pleasure · Connection

Core developmental question: What happens in me when I feel my needs?

Location: Lower abdomen / pelvis

Sacral-dominant consciousness organizes relational and affective experience throughout the body

WEEK 5 — CONTACTING NEED

Phase: Contact

Inquiry: What happens in me when I feel my needs?

WEEK 6 — HOW NEED WAS SHAPED

Phase: Imprint

Inquiry: What did I learn early about having needs and wanting connection?

WEEK 7 — REORIENTING TOWARD HEALTHY NEED

Phase: Reorientation

Inquiry: Am I open to sharing my needs and having them met now?

Solar Plexus

Will · Agency · Selfhood

Core developmental question: How does my will live in me?

Location: Upper abdomen

Solar-dominant consciousness organizes action, posture, and decision-making

WEEK 8 — CONTACTING WILL

Phase: Contact

Inquiry: How do I hold my will in my body now?

WEEK 9 — HOW WILL WAS SHAPED

Phase: Imprint

Inquiry: How was my will supported and met early in life?

WEEK 10 — REORIENTING TOWARD ALIGNED AGENCY

Phase: Reorientation

Inquiry: How can we support your will now?

Heart Chakra

Love · Grief · Relational Capacity

Core developmental question: When I care for others, do I feel included?

Location: Center of the chest

Heart-dominant consciousness reorganizes relational perception throughout the system

WEEK 11 — CONTACTING THE HEART

Phase: Contact

Inquiry: When I care for others, am I included?

WEEK 12 — HOW THE HEART WAS SHAPED

Phase: Imprint

Inquiry: How was "we consciousness" modeled/held in your childhood? And how did this impact you?

WEEK 13 — REORIENTING TOWARD MATURE LOVE

Phase: Reorientation

Inquiry: What do you need to grow into "we consciousness"?

Throat Chakra

Authority · Truth · Voice

Core developmental question: How secure do you feel in your authority?

Location: Throat / neck

Throat-dominant consciousness organizes expression and relational truth

WEEK 14 — CONTACTING VOICE

Phase: Contact

Inquiry: How secure do you feel in your authority?

WEEK 15 — HOW EXPRESSION WAS SHAPED

Phase: Imprint

Inquiry: How was my authority and voice received and nurtured?

WEEK 16 — REORIENTING TOWARD EMBODIED TRUTH

Phase: Reorientation

Inquiry: How can we help you to grow into your authority?

Third Eye

Perception · Clarity · Insight

Core developmental question: Am I free to see myself as I am?

Location: Head / brow

Developmental note: Clarity is a natural capacity of the system. When the body is burdened by trauma, unmet needs, or internal disorganization, this capacity is repurposed toward managing experience — shaping perception, interpretation, and insight. As the system becomes more grounded, safe, and resourced, perception begins to reorganize naturally, and clear seeing becomes available without effort.

WEEK 17 — CONTACTING CLARITY

Phase: Contact

Inquiry: Do I feel free enough to see what is actually happening right now?

WEEK 18 — HOW CLARITY WAS SHAPED

Phase: Imprint

Inquiry: How has my perception been shaped by the need to manage or protect my experience?

WEEK 19 — REORIENTING TOWARD CLEAR SEEING

Phase: Reorientation

Inquiry: What changes in my perception as I feel more grounded, safe, and resourced?

Crown Chakra

Meaning · Surrender · Service

Core developmental question: When I soften the crown of my head, what is the boundary of my self?

Location: Top of the head

Crown-dominant consciousness reorganizes orientation to life and existence

WEEK 20 — CONTACTING MEANING

Phase: Contact

Inquiry: When I soften the crown of my head, what is the boundary of my self?

WEEK 21 — HOW MEANING WAS SHAPED

Phase: Imprint

Inquiry: How open was the field I grew up in and what impact did this have on me?

WEEK 22 — REORIENTING TOWARD EMBODIED PURPOSE

Phase: Reorientation

Inquiry: What makes it safe for me to stay open?

Integration

WEEK 23 — INTEGRATION

No fixed inquiry. Space to consolidate the whole arc, revisit whatever chakra or quality most needs more time, and let the group's own material lead.

WEEK 24 — INTEGRATION

No fixed inquiry. Closing session — deliberately ending the container rather than finishing on the last chakra's momentum.

NOTES FOR ONGOING DEVELOPMENT

  • This document is a living reference

  • Session transcripts will be reviewed externally and distilled back into this structure

  • Language may evolve while developmental sequence stays fixed
